Only records last 30 minutes [SOLVED]

I am using Audacity 2.0.5 with Windows 7 Professional.
I have tried to record a 52 minutes online class twice now. Each time, Audacity will record only the the previous 30 minutes. So, for the first 30 minutes, all is fine. once I go beyond 30 minutes, it only records the last 30 minutes. So, for the 52 minute recording, I have everything I recorded from 22 minutes to 52 minute mark.

Is there a setting I am missing?

I have looked over FAQ and the tutorials to no avail.

Any help is appreciated. Very frustrated at the moment.

Make sure there is no selection in previous tracks. If you need previous tracks present, press the purple Skip to Start button |<< which removes any selection and moves the editing cursor to time zero. Then recording will start from zero and should not be constrained.

No previous tracks selected.
I think I had a “pc booster” program from iolo that piggybacked on the Logitech microphone that I installed.
I remember it scanning both times I was recording. I’m wondering if it was scrubbing temp files the way Norton does.

I removed that program and will try to record later today again.

Even if a previous track is deselected, if there is a selection in the Timeline above the blue waves and Transport > Overdub is “on”, then recording will be limited to the selection.

If the symptoms are that you have a recording of blue waves from time zero to 30 minutes then those previously recorded blue waves are silenced (become a flat line), yes it could be that some application is deleting temp files. Try View > Fit in Window to see all of the audio that you have recorded so far.

Problem solved…it was similar to the Norton issue…a “pc booster” program that piggybacked in with my Logitech microphone was apparently the problem. I deleted the program and it worked just fine. Successfully recorded a 52 minute online class. Whew!
