Only horrible feedback noise when trying to record internal audio

Audacity stopped working for me some time ago. Really frustrating. I’m guessing it has something to do with a Windows update? I’m using Windows 10. I’m unable to record without also recording the room. Most options give me horrible feedback or robot noises, or nothing at all. The only setting that works is WASABI, cable input, internal microphone. But then it records the noise in the room as well and turns out no good. I used Audacity for 20 years before this and had no problems. Help!

To into the Windows settings and make sure Listen To This Device (for the microphone) is turned off. Or, you may have to temporarily disable the microphone.

And make sure Audible Input Monitoring is turned off.
