Something for people for whom Audiacity is slow to open to look at: On a Win7 workgroup with 5 PZCs, all of which are similarly configured, one instance of Audacity 3.75 on one PC was taking 90 seconds to open while on the other PCs it was opening in a few seconds. I noticed in Task Manager that audiodg.exe was using high CPUs, and Google suggested this could be because of issues with how Sound was configured. I opened the Sound applet in Control Panel, and a dialog box popped up saying that audio enhancements were causing sound problems: Did I want to remove them? I said yes, closed the Sound applet, then rebooted (I don’t know if the reboot was necessary). Audacity 3 now opens immediately on the formerly problematic PC. So one possible fix for slow opening is to repair/reconfigure your sound system.
