Nyquist returns value... but why???

Hi Steve,

I am running a Mac OS Catalina version 10.15.5 with Audacity 2.4.2. I am almost finished a project when all of a sudden, when I try to apply certain effects like the “limiter“ and “RMS normalize“, instead of doing it correctly, it tells me “Nyquist returned the value: 18“. What does this mean and, more importantly, what can I do about it? It had all been working perfectly up until this morning, and nothing has changed that I am aware of. Thanks!

Michael

I’ve split your post to a new topic as I doubt that the 7 year old thread where you posted is still relevant.

Without further information, it just means that the plug-in failed.

I’m going to take a wild guess - If your project, or any tracks in the project contain a double-quote ("), rename them so that they don’t.

Hi Steve,

Thanks, yes, it was the quote thing. Very weird, but that’s probably just because I don’t understand anything about…coding? Whatever this is? Anyway, thanks for your help.

The quoting thing was a bug in Audacity. It has been fixed for the next Audacity release.
