Nyqist returned value

Hi all,

I am on a Macbook Air OS Sierra 10.12.5 and am on Audacity 2.3.3 - never had any issues with Audacity until today.
I simply wanted to de-ess an MP3 track using a low-pass filter which has always worked in the past and I am now getting the message “Nyqist returned the value:1” coming up and Audacity refuses to de-ess the track. It’s the same with the high-pass filter. Other effects don’t seem to be affected.
I can’t find a solution and haven’t found any solutions on the forum either although I get the feeling this problem has happened to others.

Can you tell me how to fix this problem please? Someone?

Thanks very much,

Sarah T.

Wow, that’s an ancient version. I’d recommend updating to at least version 2.4.2 (available from Fosshub. Scroll down to:
“[2.4.2] Audacity macOS DMG”

The current version of Audacity is 3.1.3, but I don’t know if that will run on Sierra.

That usually indicates that the plug-in encountered an error. A common cause is if you run Audacity directly from the DMG rather than installing it. Installation instructions are here: Installing and updating Audacity on Mac - Audacity Manual
