Noted for the record: iZotope Ozone doesn't work in Audacity

I’m putting this here, not to request help, but to offer info for people who might ask
- - Can you use iZotope Ozone in Audacity? - -

My experience is: No

More detail:
You can install the Ozone plug-ins, and add an Ozone effect.
Then, in the Effects panel, you will see a sort of button/object you can click. It is supposed to bring you to the settings / parameters for that Ozone effect. But when you click the object, it immediately crashes Audacity. I’ll add a screenshot if I can figure out how. You get an Exception Code 0xc00005 and a textbox showing operating system, EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION_WRITE, and a whole lot of hex codes.
I contacted Ozone support and they just said: Audacity is not an officially supported DAW for Ozone 11.

I’m glad Ozone offers the free trial, so I didn’t lose any money.

I thought some Izotope tools run stand-alone but I’m not sure…

Also note that Izotope doesn’t officially support Audacity. (And it’s technically the responsibility of the plug-in developer.)

I couldn’t find the system requirements for Ozone but this is actually for a different Izotope product:

Stand-alone Ozone was discontinued some time ago. This press release is on the iZotope website but doesn’t have an obvious datestamp:

With the introduction of Ozone 10, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue the Ozone standalone application. This also means that there is no standalone version of Ozone 11.
