Not getting stereo from USB input device

Hello,

Be gentle, I’m very new to this! I recently bought a USB input for my laptop (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B078S5YZTD/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)
to transfer some old audio tapes I have. The tapes are in stereo but when I select the USB input in Audacity it only shows up as a mono input. Is that correct? Have I just bought an overly cheap input that is only giving me a mono mic input track? Should I be looking at something better like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Behringer-UCA202-U-Control-low-latency-Interface/dp/B000KW2YEI/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=Behringer+UCA222&qid=1614278436&sr=8-3

Thanks for any help given

I’m afraid that you just bought a USB sound card, when you need an audio interface.
The UCA202 (or the 222) would be more like what you need.

The difference relies on the difference between mic and line levels.
