The noise profile in audacity will not overwrite, so that when I get a new noise profile it remembers one from many edits ago. This problem started happening about 2 weeks ago. Thanks for any help.
Audacity “forgets” the noise-profile after all Audacity windows are closed.

That’s not the issue. Audacity won’t wipe previous noise profile with new noise profile. Just maintains the noise profile from an old project.
Which version of Audacity?
(It works for me with Audacity 3.4.2 and Audacity 4.0.0 beta on Linux.)
How are you seeing that?
