No sound when playing vinyl through my MAC

I’m running OS X Yosemite 10.10.5. I’ve had this turntable for quite some time. I just uploaded Audacity 2.1.2. For now I want to use the turntable to play back my vinyl. Power is on and it’s plugged in to my MAC. No sound. What do I need to do to get the sound going? Thank You, Marc

Assuming you mean sound while recording, Transport > Software Playthrough.

If you want to hear without recording, you have to click in the Audacity Recording Meter where it says “Click to Start Monitoring” as well as enable Software Playthrough.

If Software Playthrough does not work, get “LineIn” from http://www.rogueamoeba.com/freebies/.
