We are running Audacity 2.1.3 on a Lenovo desktop computer with Windows 10 OS. We have a Soundcraft Ui16 mixer. We were feeding the computer from an Aux output (balanced XLR) using an XLR to USB interface to the USB input on the Lenovo. We want to switch to the auxiliary input on the Lenovo sound card because we get a lot of 60 Hz noise in the recordings using this method. We have a stereo cable that has two XLRs on one end and a 1/8" stereo plug on the other. We selected line in in the windows sound settings. We have tried all three host options in Audacity preferences but no indication that any signal is getting through to Audacity.
I think you should be able to record from the mixer’s USB port…

Typically, an XLR input on an interface is microphone-level. That could create a “gain staging” problem where any hum is over-amplified.

That’s a strange adapter cable and it can be tricky going from balanced (XLR 3-wire) to unbalanced. So, you might want to test your setup with a more-standard RCA to 1/8" adapter cable plugged into a CD/DVD player, or TV, etc.
