No sound through headphones

Hi there,

I am running Audacity 2.3.3 on a Mac 10.13.6 (High Sierra). When I open my file in Audacity – no sound comes through my headphones. My phones are on, plugged into my USB and it shows as if it’s playing. When I switch the output from my phones to the computer speaker, it plays just fine. I shut down, re-started and made sure my mic was listed/selected in my Audacity Devices preferences. Can you help??

Also – When it starts, I can hear a “click” like the phones are actually working, but no sound comes.

Are these “normal” USB headphones, or some fancy gaming headset? (make and model may be helpful)

The headphones plug into my microphone and the microphone is plugged into the USB. These are my headphones,

In the Device Toolbar, select your Samson mic as the recoding device AND playback device.

Yes, I have done that. No dice. Also, when I play from webpages in my browswer, the headphones play normally.

Is that with your headphones plugged into the mic?
