No sound recording through Focusrite

Hi Guys,

I’m really stuck with Audacity and i’ve tried everything.

Last week i thought my mic stopped working, it’s happened once before, some fuse had blown in it and I have a tech guy down the road who fixes it.

Same thing appeared to happen, fosurite was lighting up but no sound waves or recording appeared in the software.

I bit the bullet, ordered the new Rode mic. But the same issue continued. I then thought it might be my Focusrite so i ran my laptop, mic and Focusrite down to my Tech guy. 2 days, he couldn’t find anything wrong with the Mic of Focusrite. He said the issue is the application.

I have checked privacy settings, redownloaded the software. Updated the drivers for the focusrite. Nothing seems to be working. I tried my friends focusrite and had the same issue. It can’t be the mic as the brand new one out the box also won’t work.

I’m totally at a loss. I have an audio book deadline for next week and the stress is mounting up.

Does anyone have any ideas.

Thanks so much in advance.

Daisy x

Does Audacity have permission to use the microphone?

Yep. I’ve tried it with both the new and old mic. Both have permission

Are you able to access the microphone directly from the operating system?

You don’t mention what operating system you are using. If it is Windows there are instructions in the online Audacity manual on how do do that.
