no sound on recording after installing external DAC

Hi all.

as topic says, i cant record anything with Audacity through the DAC for some reason.
all settings are pointing to the DAC , and it still doesnt detect any sound when i record.

any help will be appreciated.
thanks in advance.

We live on details. Which DAC, which computer, USB? Which Windows?

Yeah… We need to know a bit more about your device, how everything’s connected, and what you are trying to record, etc.

 DACs don’t record!!! Digital-to-analog converters convert the digital data to analog for playback (or monitoring). Analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) are for digital recording.

ok. sorry!

im using Win 7.
i got “Muse” DAC based on PCM2704 chip connected from the computer through USB to RCA , and on to the reciever.

im trying to capture (record) a web stream , but it doesn’t matter because i cant capture anything. it works only when i dont use the DAC.
this DAC doesnt come with any drivers. it’s a simple chinese “plug and play” DAC (which gives some awesome results for its price, BTW)

A “DAC” is a “Digital to Analogue Converter”. It takes digital signals from the computer and converts them to an analogue signal which can be connected to your playback equipment. It is a “playback” device not a “recording” device.

OK. ill plug it out then.

thanks.
