No Sound on playback of MP3 files
Hi,
I have recently successfully installed Audacity 2. 0. 3 on a laptop with Windows XP as the OS. Sound is via Realtek HD Audio output. - I think that is the sound card designation.
The first trial was to record a piece of music using an open mic. This worked well and it plays back quite successfully in Audacity.
The next trial was to convert to MP3 format. The appropiate Lame files were downloaded (Lame v 3.99.3) and the export proceedure as detailed in the Audacity instructions completed. This seemed to work and the resultant MP3 file was saved to a selected folder. The file appeared in the folder as type: “MP3 Format Sound”.
The problem is that when I open the MP3 file and try to play back the recording everything seems to be working in the Realtek display panel (the cursor moves along etc.) However, there is no sound at all. Clicking on other MP3 files in the folder gives a normal play back without a problem. I have tried copying the converted Audacity file into a MP3 player but this does not work either.
I have looked through the FAQ and studied the instructions again but being new to Audacity I can not seem to find the solution.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
David
