Hey. Im in need of some help. Im running some RCA cables from my Allen and Heath Xone92 mixer in the "record " output. Im using an external soundcard into my Apple Mac Air. Ive done the Rescan Audio Devices which picked up the USB in the Built in Microphone drop down, but there is no signal. Ive checked the sertings within the Apple Mac to make sure the Microphone is on for Audacity.
The Tool bar is as follows.
Core Audio
USB
Mono recording
4.Build in output
I never had this issue when using my old Pioneer DJM 900.
In case you don’t know this, Audacity’s recording volume slider is now “hidden” under the recording meters (and the playback volume under the playback meters). Sometimes the recording volume doesn’t do anything with USB devices but check it if you haven’t already.
Have you tried something else into the external soundcard?
Are you sure the external soundcard has line-in? Most “cheap little” USB soundcards are like laptops with mic-in and headphone-out. The mic input will “work” but you’ll get low quality (and sometimes mono) and if it has a combo mic/headphone jack you’ll need a special plug for the mic connection.
Are you getting anything out of the mixer’s headphone jack, or can you test it by plugging into your stereo or something? I assume the mixer’s meters are showing activity?
Mono recording
Try stereo… On windows sometimes mono only works on the left side and if you’re plugged into the right you get nothing.
