I have a cassette player hooked up to an Audio Capture converter and I am not getting a signal to audacity. This my first time working with Audacity and trying to record. i am hoping you might have some ideas why. Thank you, Tony
Make sure you’ve selected the correct Recording Device (Don’t select anything that says “loopback”).
And make sure recording volume slider is turned-up. (It’s “hidden” under the recording meters, and playback volume slider is hidden under the playback meters.)
If that doesn’t help, tell us exactly what audio capture device you have, and what you’re trying to record from, and anything else you can tell us.
Hi, i didnt know about the faders. i still didn’t get a signal in. I am using the USB Audio capture and a Klim K7 cassette player. I am going to try another cassette deck tomorrow. i think i have it down loaded ok. what i do notice is that when i plug the usb cable that it doesn’t show up saying i am adding this device. The Audio capture has a blue light that comes on when plugged in. When i hit record it flashes. i am using the microphone usb for the recording device. Thank you Tony
Could you give precise details of how you are connecting these together and to the PC, please? You don’t say what make/model the capture device is. I looked at the manual for the Klim player and it says this on page 7:
NOTE:
This cassette player is designed exclusively for recording from cassette to SD card and for voice recording to SD cards…
So, I assume you got the capture device to get around that restriction. Another option might be to record to SD card as intended and then put the card in a reader, plug it into the PC and open it in Audacity from there to edit. Just a thought.
Hi, i still haven’t figured out why i am not getting signal when i want to record. I have changed my setup to a regular cassette deck with rca plugs out to usb in. yesterday i tried a klim k7 with usb and a 1/8 pluggoing out the head phone plug. I have uninstalled audacity and installed the latest version. i dont know if its something in audacity set wrong or in my settings in the windows area. I hope someone can give some direction in where to look. Thank you. Tony.
