Hi, I hope someone may be able to help me.
I have been recording in Audacity for quite some time - many years. I have a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 USB with a Rode Microphone NT1-A connected as usual.
A month ago I finished recording a project and stored away the mic and Focusrite carefully. I turn it on tonight and connect it up to same laptop as before and suddenly I can’t get any recording in Audacity.
Things I have checked so far:
- Mic is plugged into Focusrite correctly and has power. When I plug my headphones into the focusrite, I get sound and also sound from the mic when I switch on Direct monitor, so the Focusrite seems OK.
- I checked the Focusrite is up to date with the latest and correct driver for its hardware type (and seeing as I haven’t changed anything this is the same as before - when it was working).
- When I play back a video from the laptop, it plays audio through the headphones connected to the focusrite - so USB driver seems to be ok.
- When I open up an old project in audacity, it plays back through the headphones plugged into the focusrite, so Audacity is talking to the focusrite at some level.
- In audacity I checked the following:
a) it’s running version 2.1.2

Although there is mention of lame not loading correctly, eventually it does seem to, so not sure what the problem is here. Just a note, I restarted Audacity a couple of times, so that might be why it shows lame failing a couple of times and then success.
Anyone able to help, or has this happened to someone else? My guess is a Windows issue of some kind, but it’s odd that it can play back through the focusrite OK and that it gets recognised in Audacity.
Very grateful for any pointers
Cheers
