No playback when recording

Hey guys, I was wondering whether anyone could shed some light on a problem I’ve got with Audacity. I’ve imported an mp3 vocal track into a new project and when I click ‘play’, it plays back fine. However, I also want t record a guitar track on top of the vocal track but when I click ‘record’ to start the guitar recording, the vocal track doesn’t play back - obviously this makes it impossible for me to record the guitar track in time with the vocal track. Any ideas of how to solve this? Cheers,

Go to Edit>Preferences>Audio I/O and set the check box on for "Play other tracks while recording new one"
