I saw a few other posts about this topic but none of the solutions have worked for me. I recently dowloaded audacity and just did my first recording. I ran into trouble and didn’t know how to save the project/file. When I exited audacity it gave me the option to save but it’s only saved as an AUP file which does not work for me. I tried deleting the audacity app and redownloading it. I’m on MacOS 10.5 Catalina and downloaded audacity 2.4.2. Please let me know if there’s an easy fix to this.

“File menu > Save Project > Save Project”
In what way does it “not work” for you?
If you want to create a normal audio file:
“File menu > Export > Export as WAV / MP3 / OGG”
