no input from USB turntable on 2.3.0 using win 7

My setup is Thinkpad T210 running win7-64, Smart AUDIO codec version CX20585, and using a Audio Technica USB turntable.

This setup once worked fine,
Now when I attempt to record from the turntable, I get a on / off buzzing.
Toolbar shows MME, Input (microphone) shows internal microphone and sound mapper as the only two options.
In the manual under the topic I do not see the USB CODEC as an input.

You may have a hardware failure. Try another USB cable and/or different USB port. Or, the turntable may have failed. And of course, try a different computer if you have access to another one.

You can test the turntable’s analog line-outputs by plugging into your stereo, or in to your TV, etc. If the line-outputs from the turntable work but the USB fails, you can get an external USB audio interface (The Behringer UCA202 is popular an inexpensive), or if you have a desktop/tower computer you can use the line-inputs on the soundcard. Don’t buy a regular “USB soundcard” because they are like laptops with only line-in and headphone-out.

I don’t know where that’s coming from since your computer can’t even recognize the turntable…
