I’ve been using Audacity for years and this problem seems to have come out of the blue.
When trying to use the repair tool, I select a small section of audio, but if I my selection is 3 frames or under, Audacity doesn’t play it back - the cursor moves but there is no sound. This is making it very hard to find the audio glitches I’m trying to remove.
I can’t find any settings that might be responsible. I can’t think of anything that’s changed recently.
I’ve rebooted the computer, uninstalled Audacity and reinstalled Audacity 2.1.2. A colleague had 2.1.1 on their system, so they sent me the exe file and I installed that version. Still no joy. Which indicates the problem isn’t with Audacity itself, but I’m hoping someone has had a similar problem.
I’m using Windows Professional 7.7.1.
I’m not sure which version of Audacity I had when this problem started, but 2.1.2 and 2.11 also have the problem, I currently have 2.1.1.
Make a note of the current settings in the device toolbar so that you can go back to them if necessary, then try changing the “host” setting to one of the alternatives (when you change the “host” setting, you will also need to check that the recording and playback “device” settings are set appropriately.)
