USING WINDOWS VISTA HOME VERSION
I downloaded Audacity from the disk that came with my ezcap cassette conversion to digital device. Probably an old version of audacity. Went to the website and downloaded the 2.02 version. On both versions when I selected EDIT the option to Export to MP3 was greyed out and not available. The User Guide and Help guide also indicated I may need a (lame_enc.dll) file. Where is that?
I don’t hear any sound when my cassette is playing in my ezcap device. Do I need a sound recorder like the one I have on my Windows Vista Programs?
On both versions when I selected EDIT the option to Export to MP3 was greyed out and not available
Export to MP3 is listed under the File Tab, not Edit.

Hope this helps

In Device Toolbar, set the input device to the USB Ezcap device and the output device to your computer speakers.
To hear the cassette through the computer speakers, click Transport > Software Playthrough (on/off) in Audacity then press the red Record button.
If you want to hear the cassette through the computer speakers without recording, click in the red (right-hand) recording meter as well as turning software playthrough on.
This is all explained in the following tutorial:

Also note you have to press the yellow Stop button in Audacity after recording before you can export.
