New to Audacity - Can someone help and answer my questions?

Hi all,

I would like to begin by saying thank you for the people who have created and worked on Audacity, it is an absolute beautiful piece of engineering. I particularly like how effects are “applied” rather than, happening in real-time.

I have two questions.

  1. Is it possible to create a mastering chain with multiple plugins (e.g., 10 plugins in a specific order) and apply this chain to every track, without having to reapply it manually for each one? There are certain plugins I always apply to every single master where the parameters within those plugins do not change when they are selected. For example a 20 Hz low cut with FabFilter Pro-Q 3.

  2. When I master an Album, I tend to have the entire album inside a single DAW. I would usually have to export each individual track separately. There is an export multiple individual track options however, for example, if I have two tracks—one at 30 seconds and another at 1 minute—both tracks will be exported at 1 minute, resulting in 30 seconds of silence at the end of the shorter track. Can Audacity export each track individually at its specific length, with all effects applied? For instance, if I have three tracks—one at 1 minute 27 seconds, another at 2 minutes 47 seconds, and a third at 53 seconds—can I export each track at its exact length, ensuring the effects are applied to each one?

Hello,

  1. You can write multiple macros into which you can insert as many plugins as you like, and apply different macros to different tracks
  2. Yes, when using the Export multiple files function, Audacity exports each track according to its timing. That is, if there are tracks of different lengths in the project, after export, each track will have its own length.
