I just updated to 3.2.3,
thanks for all the improvements,
but Change Pitch is not working as it did.
As seen in attachments, after raising the pitch the duration shortens and excess time replaced with silence.
Aha, the option “Use high quality stretching” unchecked by default.
Which I think is new; never seen this problem before.
So my problem was solved just by checking the box.
Posting here in case someone else encountered this problem.
If I recall correctly, that has always been the default (I added the “high quality” option, but retained the older algorithm as the default for the sake of backward compatibility). Maybe you changed it a long time ago and have not changed it since - I think one of the more recent updates reset everything back to defaults.
Anyhow, to achieve accurate timing with the Change Speed effect - yes the “high quality” option needs to be enabled.
Interesting - I can’t reproduce it with 3.2.3 either. This has been a very long-standing issue (occurs in 2.4.2 and all previous versions) but I haven’t seen any reports of it being fixed, yet here we are.
Please check that you are actually using version 3.2.3 by looking in “Help menu > About Audacity”.
