Name or get the file after the start time of recording

Hi!

Could you please tell whether I can name the file after the start time of recording including the date and time, which should be precise to millisecond level?

I know I can name the track after the recording start time but this name approach is only precise to second level.

Even though I cannot name the file after the time, getting the start time is also a good thing!

Thank you in advance!

Windows 10 and Audacity 2.4.1

There’s no built-in way to do that.
What are you trying to do?

Thank you for your replying!

What we are trying to do is synchronizing audios and videos recorded from different devices.

Only if we know the start time of recording of different audios can we synchronize them.

Could you please give me some advice to realize such synchronization?

Thank you!

That’s what “clapper boards” are used for:
“Three, two, one,…Clap!” at the start and again at the end.

Line up the start clap in each recording, then check the clap at the end. If the end claps don’t match up, then that shows that the recording devices were not running at quite the same speed. Use Audacity’s “Change Speed” effect to adjust the length between start clap and end clap so that all tracks match.
