My recording starts when it hears sound. How do I have the recording begin immediately?
The recording seems to begin only when it hears a sound, not before (lead in header)
What are you recording?
Ensure that “Sound Activated Recording” is NOT enabled in “Transport menu > Transport Options”.

If you are recording Internet sound from a Web radio or some other Web page through WASAPI in Audacity, you won’t be able to record until sound is actually being played through your browser, hence through your Windows system.
If you want to record before sound is actually being played in your browser (that is if you want to record silence for a number of split seconds or more), you need to play sound in your browser and mute the browser tab before you click on the Record button in Audacity. Audacity will record silence as long as the browser tab is muted. Audacity will start recording the music being played as soon as you unmute the browser tab, and sound is actually being played through your browser.
