Mute and Solo buttons don't work

I’m using Audacity 3.5.1 on Mac (M2, 2023)

The “Mute” and “Solo” buttons do not work: They do not react when I click them. After clicking “Mute” or “Solo,” the buttons do not remain highlighted, (like prior releases of Audacity), nor do any of the tracks solo or mute.

I tried adjusting the behaviors according to Tracks Behaviors Preferences - Audacity Manual, but that makes no changes.

It also appears that this bug was reported earlier, but ignored: Close, Mute and Solo not working new version for Mac Silicon

I had the same problem when trying to compare 2 different versions of the same song.

I had to mute one and then stop and mute the other and then unmute the first one in order to hear them individually.

Once I started trying the solo buttons, the mute buttons stopped working altogether.

I really hope they fix this soon as this is a feature I use fairly frequently in doing digital stereo remixing.
