Music Heard When Recording

I am recording using a headset in a quiet room. When I playback the recording I hear background music with my voice. I haven’t determined how to record and not have this background music added to the track. I do not even know where the music is coming from. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,

When you wrote “I hear background music with my voice” do you mean that you only hear it when you are talking, or the whole time you record, even when you are not talking?

If I start to record by do not talk for several seconds and then start talking when I playback I hear only the music from the very beginning and then I hear voice and music.

Post some of it. Record. Hold your breath for one or two seconds (like an audiobook) and then talk up to ten seconds. The forum upload icon is the heavy bar with the up arrow.

Is there a very powerful radio station near you? Obviously, such broadcasting equipment can cause strange effects. If you can read German (or like to use a translation service such as deepL or Google translator), here is an extract of an article from the website of the “Museum for Communications” in Switzerland:

Those are the ones that can show up on your toaster.

In the US those are required by law to identify themselves every half-hour or so. Do you have a red and white striped tower near you?

There’s another trick, too. How does your computer connect to the internet? Shut down the connection and see if the music goes away. Disconnect the Ethernet Cable.

Or, if WiFi, shut down the connection, or just pull the power cable temporarily.

Describe the music.

Fair warning you have one foot in “Scam Post” territory.

This is where I was going by asking the question…

Some microphones have auto leveling, which turn the gain up when it is very quiet, and then push it down again when you speak. When the gain is very high, and the audio is saved with compression (MP3), the resulting artifacts can sound like faint music.

And that brings us to my request to post some of the damage.
