Multiple Issues / Crashes

Hey all,

I was hoping I could get some help here.

I’ve been trying to get started using Audacity for several days now and I keep running into different issues that seem to be changing in severity minute by minute.

I’m running Ubuntu 22.04.1LTS and Audacity is 3.1.3 and appears to be up to date with what’s in the app store on Ubuntu.

Currently when I open Audacity I have ALSA available and selected as audio host. However no options appear in the recording device or recording channels drop downs. I have previously been able to select ‘Default’ in the recording device tab but no longer can.

Previously when I was able to select ‘Default’ in recording device Audacity would not show up in Pulse Audio. I’m trying to record streaming audio. A couple nights ago this all seemed to be working after a long evening of Googling and experimenting but now after my computer has been powered down for a day the issue seems to have regressed somehow.

Here’s what comes up when I diagnose audio device info:

I appreciate any help you guys could give me.

Just found that there is a newer version of Audacity and the distro version is out of date. Gonna try and get the new one going and see if that helps.

Issues resolved by downloading the AppImage file from Audacity.
