When upgrading to a new Audacity version, it is probably easiest to trash the folder containing the previous Audacity version, then give the same name to the new folder. That way, you will not create duplicate plugins.
If you have any plugins in the Audacity “Plug-ins” folder that did not come with Audacity, copy those plugins to your Desktop before deleting the old Audacity version. Then paste the old plugins into the “Plug-ins” folder in the new installation.
