I’m using 2.1.1.
My husband changed my mp3 icon from the standard one to the one that Audacity uses for the original Audacity file – the headset over the sound waves (or is it a shark’s mouth!?) … I’m desperate to change it back, but I can’t figure out how, and he doesn’t remember (and doesn’t care). Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.
Please, always tell us your version of Windows (see the pink panel at the top of the page).
If you mean that you have Audacity set to open MP3 files when you double-click them, change the file association back to Windows Media Player or whatever you prefer by right-clicking an MP3, choose “Open with”, select the app you want to open MP3’s with, then enable the checkbox that says to always open this type of file with this app.
Or on recent Windows versions, press the Windows key, type “Default Programs” (without quotes) and hit ENTER on your computer keyboard then follow the instructions.
You may have to restart File Explorer to see the icon update.
