Mono XLR Mic - 2Ch. Output?

Hey, I have a Studio Projects B1 Mono XLR Microphone, I’m using an XLR-1/8" Mono cable which is plugged into my Line-In on my soundcard.

My problem is that I’d like to live stream audio from my microphone, but it outputs in one channel, I was wondering if there was any way of mixing it up to 2 channels live?

Thanks

What do you mean “live stream audio from my microphone”?
Audacity does not do “live” anything. It’s a recording, editing and processing tool, not a real-time streaming tool.
If you require a 2 channel input for some other application, you could plug the microphone into a mixing desk and connect the mixing desk to a suitable stereo input (such as a stereo “Line” level sound card input).

Yes, I know that, I was talking in terms of Microphones in general - unrelated to Audacity, sorry.

I realised that if I set the program to stream in mono it’ll be fine, I foolishly set it on Stereo by accident. But if I have a problem where I can’t set it to mono then I’ll know I need a mixer.

Thanks

Many computers let you change your microphone into “stereo” (two channels) in the sound setup panels.

Probably not. You’re probably plugged into the Mic-In of your sound card (pink). Line-In (blue) will not have enough gain to boost your microphone – and it’s stereo. Dig around in your sound setups and see if there isn’t a setting which can “stereo-ify” your mic.
