Mixer is losing any adjustments I make in Audacity

Hi, I have this Behringer Xenyx X1222USB mixer hooked up to my computer with Windows 7 and Audacity hooked up directly with the USB cable. I have been doing some tests. In my earphones my voice and every adjustment can be heard nice and clear. When I make a recording, I change the highs and lows and can hear them live. I’ve messed with some of the effects as well and they sound great live. Then when I play it back in audacity or export it as an MP3, my voice sounds a bit distant and NONE of the adjustments or effects are there at all. I can put the pitch effect to make myself sound like a chipmunk, and in the playback I sound regular. I can adjust the lows and highs and I hear it great live, but no changes in the recording there either. What would cause this? I don’t see anything in the manual regarding this. Thanks a lot!

You mean using an effect on the mixer?
If so then it sounds like the mixer is sending a “dry” mix (pre-Ez, Pre-Fx) out through the USB. Audacity can’t do anything about that, it will just record the data that is sent to it. Check in the manual for the mixer to see if there is way to send a “post-Eq, post-Fx” mix out through the USB.

Make sure the “FX to Main” control is turned up. You probably have “FX to MON” turned up.

Thanks guys… Not just effects. Even if I just turn the high/mid/low knobs on my mic’s channel. I hear my voice changing in my headset, but nothing happens in the recording. Not just effects. I’ll check to see if that adjustment you mentioned is turned up when I get home from work. But it’s definitely not just effects. Any changes I make don’t come through into my recordings.

Then I am at a loss. I don’t have that mixer, just had a quick look at the manual is all.
