MINIDISC ANALOGUE RECORDINGS TRANSFER TO COMPUTER

HAVING TROUBLE. I HAVE THE MINIDISC PLAYER HOOKED UP FROM THE SMALL USB OUTPUT ON THE MINIDISC TO THE STANDARD USB INPUT ON THE COMPUTER. IMac OSX 10.4. NOT GETTING any indication that the computer or audacity is detecting the minidisc player

That’s MiniDisc research. I know Sony didn’t use standard format sound files in that thing and they might have played other games as well. Consult your instructions. Was the USB connection ever designed to transfer files to anything but a Sony computer? That’s the sort of thing they’re famous for.

Looks like people resort to going analogue : line-in rather than USB.

Apparently digital copy is possible on a minority of MD devices …

I managed it with my Sony MiniDisc deck, plumbed in to the digital in put on my external USB soundcard (Edirol UA-1EX)
