MIDI software

I am new at the MIDI game, so therefore do not know what questions to ask. My situation is, I have a well-equipped keyboard on which I wish to play separate tracks, run them through the appropriate software, mix the tracks down, being able to adjust volume, maybe effects, then put the results on CD. Does Audacity have any software which will accomplish this feat?

Absolutely. No problem at all as long as you don’t need MIDI control. Audacity doesn’t speak MIDI.

What kind of audio interface does the keyboard have and more importantly what provision does the computer have to accept audio? That’s usually the hard part. MIDI doesn’t manage audio. It just tells the keyboard when to push the key and which one.

If you like playing live, then the Overdubbing provisions of Audacity are right down your alley.
