Sorry for the confusion. I am on a MacBook Pro running 15.3. I have installed Audacity 3.7 several times but still have the same problem. This seems to be common with the Mac. The Menu bar is not showing up at the top (File, view, etc) I attempted a reset following the instructions from an old post. Please see below.
Ensure that Audacity is completely shut down (reboot the computer if necessary, but ensure that Audacity is totally closed)
Select and copy this next line to your clipboard (Command + C):
~/Library/Application Support/audacity/
Thank you so much for your help. After I deleted the three .cfg files I still did not have a menu bar. My Mac screen is broken so I was plugged into a Sony TV. When I plugged into another TV the Menu bar was there. Hope this post can help someone else. Again thank you so much for your help!!
I am not sure about your diagnosis of a broken screen.
The menu bar usually only appears on a screen which is declared to be the “main” screen, if two screens are attached. And I could imagine that an external display was declared “main screen” before, then removed (or just not switched on) without the system noticing this.
Go to your “system settings → displays” and see what you have selected there.
