I am in the process of trying to make 2 different audio files sound the same. I have attached an example and would be most grateful for any insight on preparing these clips to sound similar. The example is the end of one sentence and the beginning of the next. You will notice the jump in the voice.
I personally would have done something about the overly crisp “Essing” in the first clip. With that correction, the two clips would blend even better, not to mention being easier to listen to.
This is also a retirement project. “If we make the second track just a liiiiiitle bit crisper, it would sound a lot better…” “Nope. Too crisp. Try reducing…”
See? That one has additional corrections. I reduced the first clip crispness with Effect > Bass and Treble > Reduce Treble 3dB > OK
Then some fancy-pants copy and paste to get rid of the pop between the clips.
I’m assuming you want the start to sound like end, as the end sounds better …
When increasing the volume of the quiet part, some noise reduction will be required because the signal-to-noise ratio will not be the same.
Not mentioned yet is that that the stereo-image is different between the two, (as well as volume, noise level, EQ & reverb). For a consistent stereo-image make everything mono, then, if necessary, add pseudo-stereo effect to taste.
Not mentioned yet is that that the stereo-image is different between the two…
And when you get done carefully adjusting all those corrections you’ll be ready to settle down to a nice comfortable retirement in a thatched cottage in the Cotswolds.
Most requests to make this audio sound like that audio fail. It’s a never ending job. One of the talents for this kind of editing is not the editing job. It’s the executive decision when to stop.
