look at the waveform. db view is by far the easiest to use.
find the start of each song. the waveform from an LP should have a couple of seconds of low level between songs which makes it easier to find.
use the magnify on the left of the track to help. looking at about 5 minute segments may help too (magnify on the track itself to get it to show about that length)
put the cursor before the start of each of the next cuts on the LP and do a ctrl-B. don’t forget to do it before the very first one too!
when you export you will have separate wav files for each song to burn to a cd.
Hi Bill,
there’s a tutorial for that here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Splitting_recordings_into_separate_tracks
Steve
And this is a similar tutorial from the manual that is under development for 1.3/2.0: http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Splitting_a_recording_into_separate_tracks
You may find the other tutorials in this set in the manual useful too: http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Tutorial_-_Copying_tapes,_LPs_or_minidiscs_to_CD
