Low recording volume with Samson CO1U (Windows 7)

Hello, this looks like an appropriate area for this post!
I am a voice actor, using Audacity 2.0.1 on a Toshiba Satellite laptop.
This is a new machine, as my old one suffered a hard drive failure.
For almost 2 years I have had the same setup, using a Samson C01U mic, plugged directly into the computer via USB.
No problems.
Now, on the new machine, running Win 7, I have incredibly low input levels.
Recording my voice, as I have been doing for so long, the wave form barely breaks the 0.0 line.
I have my mic volume settings at 10 in Audacity and in the recording devices tab on the laptop.
I have uninstalled and re-installed the mic twice.
See attachment. Thanks in advance for suggestions!

Hi. It’s generally less confusing to start a new topic for a new question.

If you previously ran Windows XP, the Win 7 sound system is very different.
There are a lot of settings hidden away in the Windows Sounds control panel.
See here for how to get to those controls and check that everything related to the CO1U is turned up there. Missing features - Audacity Support
