Low Quality when Recording Audio Playing on Computer

Hi there,

this is my first post, so my apologies if I do anything wrong! I use Windows 10 and Audacity 2.3.3.

For the last couple of years, I used Audacity to digitalize some old vinyls and remove scratches etc. This always worked fine, sound was as good as the original source (the vinyl).

Now, I started to try to record audio playing on the computer. I was successful in being able to record, yet, the recorded audio has not the same quality as the original audio; it sounds … a little muffled or distanced. I enabled the stereo mix in Windows, disabled any sound effects possiby used by Windows, and tried as audio hosts both MME and WASAPI with recording channels always set to stereo record. I also tried all possibilities for recording devices.

The outcome was, at best, as described above. Since the outcome of my vinyl activities always sounded perfect, I also assume that the sound card is not the problem.

Can anyone help please? Thanks in advance!

Kind regards,

Christi.

Try WASAPI loopback.

Thank you for your answer!

I did try Wasapi loopback, sorry for being unclear, and it didn’t work either.

I have a SIMILAR problem!
That is, recording music from the Internet
a: From a “live” performance sent out over the Internet
b: From “recorded” sources such as Utube
I will be watching for answers - hope they come.
