Hi! I’m new here, and i noticed strange thing. When i was working on my MBP (mid 2009) on audacity performance was ok. Interface was snappy, everything worked just fine. Recently i got an old Mac Pro (2008) with should outperform my laptop by far, but performance is very bad. I’m talking about interface lagging, poor framerate. My laptop has 1280x800 resolution and runs perfectly. Big computer has 2560x1440 resolution screen and while fullscreen it’s very bad. When i resize windows to some smaller size, performance is getting better. I think, there is some problem with high resolutions. Importing and exporting are both fine, but while working on projects, i’d like to utilize my whole screen, but i can’t because program is running on 10FPS… Is there some way i can improve this? i love Audacity, it’s free and very powerfull. I’m working in small radio, and it’s the best option for me. When i plug bigger monitor to MBP it also works slow…
My computers specs:
MBP 13’ (Mid 2009)
C2D 2,26GHz Dual Core Intel 64 bit
9400m 256MB
Crucial BX100 250Gb SSD
8 GB DDR3 1067 MHz RAM
El Capitan 10.11.6
Mac Pro 3,1 (Mid 2008)
2x Intel Xeon 4-core 2,8GHz 64 bit (8 physical cores total)
GT120 512MB
Some 160GB HDD (it’s fine, works good)
8GB DDR2 800MHz DDR2 ECC
El Capitan 10.11.5
PS: I will upgrade Mac Pro some time later, just need some money for parts, and had no time to update OS X to latest version, but i think it’s not the case.
