Lost feature - Preferences>Track>Show Track Name As Overlay

v3.60 has removed the very nice feature,
Preferences>Track>Show Track Name As Overlay…

I suppose this wasn’t just an attempt to make the program worse, but rather that
somebody had a better idea for making track names visible and legible.

How do I make the track names visible and legible in 3.60 now that the Show Track Name As Overlay option is gone?

I think it’s more likely that they decided it wasn’t really useful, or is now done better.

We do now have clip names, which we didn’t previously, and the first clip takes the track name by default.

Thanks

So, revision to my standard procedures

  1. Do not bother to edit TrackName (it’s unreadable anyway due to the lack of horizontal space)
  2. Immediately after adding content to a new track,
    a. Find the three dots at the far right hand end of the “handle” bar on top of the track,
    b. Left click the three dots and select Rename Clip

I see that when you zoom in and then scroll right (i.e. towards the end of the song) so that the Start Of Clip is no longer on screen, the ClipName remains visible anyway. Nice.

Another way to change the clip name is to double click on the clip name, then type the new name.
