Hi! I’m using macOS Sierra 10.12.6
I have two guitar tracks that are from the same original track. I used the Waves H-EQ plugin to make them both sound different. On playback, the levels and everything sound perfect when I am soloing each track. However, when I take solo off and play them both together, there is major volume loss, it sounds way more reverent, and in general it just sounds weird. Go back to playing each track solo again and sounds normal. Any suggestions? I’m a newbie, but I’m so confused! Thanks!
To be clear: you had one guitar track. You duplicated it. Then applied EQ to the duplicated track? Or to both tracks? Did the guitar tracks have reverb on them before you added EQ? Did you try playing them back together before you added EQ to make sure they were lined up properly?
Equalization will change the phase of various frequencies as well as changing volume. Playing identical tracks with different EQ may result in full or partial phase cancellation at different frequencies. This may be what you are hearing. Try panning one track hard left and the other hard right.
