After finding nothing but AI narrators for my book in Amazons ACX, I decided to try it myself. I bought a Shure SM7db mic, a Scarlett and am using Audacity for my production. While my chapter files are passing the ACX analysis tool, I’d like to get feedback on my voice/reading quality before recording 150 chapters and hoping they pass the ACX human review. Thank you in

There’s a constantly present fan noise between 40-90Hz, and at ~140Hz (139-142Hz)

Your voice goes as low as 50Hz, so removing the fan without damaging the voice would need AI, e.g. Adobe Enhance
This may be from the computer fan and @billmoffatt may not be able to control that without some expensive isolation solutions.
I have a memory of someone mentioning a notch filter that only kicked in when the decibel level was below a certain threshold. Anyone else remember this? It may be something built in to Audacity that I’ve just never used.
I decided to scrap Audacity and purchased Adobe Audition, Tried recording the chapter with it instead. Does this come across any better? Thanks for your input, it is greatly appreciated.
The acoustic treatment of your recording space is good, but because your voice is so deep there is some room reverb. A de-reverb plug-in can dry that up …
