Local Help files

I installed 2.0.3 from the exe on a XP Home Edition PC.
The local help files are not accessable from the help drop down troolbar.
Suggestions would be most appreciated, Thanks
Glen

Why not? What happens when you click: “Help > Manual (in web browser)”

When I click on the drop down, nothing happens.
I have checked and the help file folders are in the folder wit the program file.

What web browser do you use?
If you double click on an HTML file, does it open in your normal web browser?

I use IE8.
The HTML files open normally if double clicked.
I changed my default browser to Chrome with no change.

Did you install Audacity to the default location, or did you change that to some other location?

Installed to the default that is c:Program filesaudacity
I did install it over a previous version.

What was the previous version?
Did help work in the previous version?

Go to the folder: C:Program FilesAudacityhelpmanual
What do you have in there?

I don’t recall the previous version.

The folder contents are:
c:program filesaudacity
helpmanual
images
man
m
manual
favicon.ico
index.html
quick_help.html

If you double click on that file: index.html does it open correctly?

Yes, both HTML files will open correctly if double clicked.

If you want, download and unzip this pre-2.0.3 version of Audacity to any different folder and see if it makes any difference to the problem:
http://gaclrecords.org.uk/bugs/audacity-win-2.0.3-alpha_r12044_browser_open_patch.zip .

It’s just a test, you shouldn’t use this instead of the installed 2.0.3.

Also, although you are not getting errors opening the Manual from Audacity, check if you have Copy to and Move to enabled in Explorer context menus:
https://forum.audacityteam.org/t/cannot-access-manuals-via-help-on-xp-solved-copy-move-to/27117/1 .
