length of time of recording

I cannot get my recording to last until it is over. I start out great and it stops half way through recording. How do I correct this.

If you are trying to record for a specific length of time, see: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_recording_how_to_s.html#timer .

If you have a selection in the track and Transport > Overdub is “on” then recordings will be limited to the length of the selection. If you want to retain the selection but record past it, turn Transport > Overdub off, or save the selection using Edit > Region Save then you can restore it using Edit > Region Restore.

If that does not help, please read Steve’s link and give us the necessary information about the problem.
