Left and Right Audio Balancing [SOLVED]

I have an unusual dilemma.

I want an audio file to be played on only the left side, but when I use the L/R slider, it still plays on both. I’ve searched around a ton for an answer, and I can only find instructions for how to turn it from one side to both, and not the other way around like I want. Does anyone know how?

You mean the track “Pan slider”? (http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/audio_tracks.html#pan)
If that is set all the way to the left, then only the left channel plays. If you still hear it from both speakers / both sides of your headphones, then it’s not Audacity doing that.
How are you listening to Audacity?

Yes, I meant the pan slider.

I’m fairly certain now that the problem is my cheap headphones. Thanks for your help.

I figured it out! I had extra tracks that I wasn’t changing and it was screwing the thing up.
