Labels conversion

Hi. I use Audacity 2.3.2 and Windows 10 64-bit.

Two related questions:

  • is there a quick way to convert two point labels into a region label?
  • is there a quick way, using keyboards shortcuts, to select the area between two point labels?

Thanks.

The easiest way is to add a new region label, then delete the surplus point labels.

  1. Move the mouse pointer in the audio track above or below the label track until it “snaps” with a yellow vertical line to the position of the first label.
  2. Click and drag on the audio track towards the second label.
  3. When the mouse pointer snaps to the second label, release the left mouse button. The region between the two labels is now selected.
  4. “Ctrl + B” to add a region label.

No, but if you create a region label, then clicking in the label’s text box will select the label’s time region. (Press “Enter” if you don’t want to edit the label text).
