Label Tracks

Hi all,

I’m needing to know if there’s a quick way of making labels.

I have a heap of mp3 tracks all in the one project, I then need to create a label for each word. Unfortunately, as the number of tracks is so large, it takes a lot of mucking around as overtime I create a label for a word it takes me all the way to the bottom of the page, I then have to scroll up and find it. If there was a way of either:

  • not going to the bottom of the page when making a label for a selection
    OR even better
  • selecting a large amount and being able to create a separate label for each word/track all at once

I’ve attached a screen shot of what it looks like.

At any time you can click the name of the label track (by the downward-pointing arrow) and choose “Move Track to Top”. If you don’t see that choice, grab the latest Audacity 2.1.0 from http://www.fosshub.com/Audacity.html.

If you want the label track at the top, don’t use COMMAND + B to add the new label. Use UP arrow on your keyboard to navigate to the label track, then type and the label will be created. DOWN arrow navigates back down through the tracks.

You can use Labels Editor to add labels at one go (use Insert Before or Insert After to add a new label in the same track) - but you don’t have access to the main Audacity window when Labels Editor is open, so it may not help you that much.
