Hi,
did download the latest version and again go back to 3.3.3, where you could keep album tags for all files being exported. I use audacity for recording my vinyl in hi-res.
Why isn’t there an option at least. Tagging each file seperately is boring work…
If I remember correctly, one of the forum moderators said this was a bug that’s been outstanding for over a year. The developers are in no hurry to fix it. Since you are using Windows I would suggest using MP3Tag for your metadata. It’s free and it works really well.

Hi Mark,
thanks a lot, been doing this a few times, in the end I still hope to be able to use Audacity the way it worked before, exporting files has always been a few steps less until it suddenly changed. The whole “exporting several files” section sadly is far inferior to older versions.
Again, thanks for your answer!!!
I don’t know what’s changed but Audacity has never supported embedded artwork and metadata has always been a “weak area”.
Another issue is that if you just want to edit the metadata the whole file has to be re-written. If you have MP3 or other lossy format, editing the tags in Audacity means going-through another generation of lossy compression when you re-export. (That won’t be problem with your high resolution files.)
I think the difficulty (besides it apparently being a low priority for the developers) is that different audio formats use different tagging standards. MP3 uses ID3 (and there’s more than one ID3 standard) and FLAC uses Vorbis comments, etc. And you can’t always exactly-translate from one to the another.
Just FYI - With MP3Tag you can select a folder-full of files and enter/edit all of the common information once. Or, you can select one file at a time to edit the title or track number, or whatever is unique.
Yes, very true, mp3tag is a good one, even for my 32 float/ 192kHz wav files, but it has been a pleasure to ‘pre-tag’ the main info before .
For my use there are just too many things stuffed into Audacity now while loved features vanish.
Thanks for your answers, will try a new. release from time to time, still 3.3.3 seems to be the one for me…
I agree entirely and this is the same approach that I adopt.
